Brushing
Start by using a soft-bristle suede brush or a suede eraser to remove loose dirt and restore the nap (the fine, raised fibers). Gently brush in one direction to avoid damaging the suede.
Steam Cleaning
Stubborn stains can be treated with steam. Hold the stained area over a steaming kettle or use a clothing steamer at a safe distance. Be cautious not to saturate the suede with too much steam.
Stain Removal
For stains, use a suede-specific stain eraser or a clean white eraser. Gently rub the eraser over the stain in a circular motion. Do not use water on suede stains, as it can leave watermarks.
Suede Protector
To prevent future stains, consider applying a suede protector spray after cleaning. Follow the product's instructions and apply it in a well-ventilated area.
Cleaning Solution
Prepare a solution of mild leather cleaner or a mixture of water and mild dish soap. Use a soft, damp cloth or sponge and wring it out well so it's only slightly damp, not wet.
Gentle Cleaning
Gently rub the damp cloth or sponge over the leather in a circular motion. Do not scrub aggressively, as it can damage the surface.
Dust Removal
Wipe the leather item with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and loose dirt. This is a crucial step to avoid scratching the leather during cleaning.
Rinse and Dry
Wipe the item with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Then, dry it thoroughly with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use a heat source to speed up the drying process, as it can cause the leather to crack.
